About

My name is Benjamin Norris and I received my PhD. in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research in 2021. My research focuses on 18th and 19th century German idealism and contemporary continental philosophy. My teaching interests include the history of philosophy, social and political philosophy, psychoanalysis, and contemporary 20th and 21st century European philosophy. I am the author of Schelling and Spinoza: Realism, Idealism, and the Absolute published with State University of New York Press. My current research focuses on the philosophical significance of the Earth in German idealism, romanticism, and pessimism.
